Tax Planning

Practice Chair: Jeffrey C. De Francisco

CMDB’s Tax Planning practice group is routinely called upon to give advice on sophisticated wealth transfer strategies to individuals and businesses.

Some of our more complex plans might include grantor retained annuity trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, charitable remainder and lead trusts, family limited partnerships, and private foundations.

Our attorneys provide a full range of tax services, including consultation on individual gifting through irrevocable trusts and charitable vehicles, business succession planning, retirement planning, life insurance planning and the tax aspects of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. We regularly prepare gift and estate tax returns and represent clients in negotiations with the IRS. Several of our attorneys have practiced before the United States Tax Court.

We counsel individuals, multi-generation families, business owners, and real property owners. We pride ourselves in developing and implementing effective strategies for minimizing or avoiding gift tax, estate tax, generation skipping transfer tax, income tax, property tax, sales and use tax, and many other state and local taxes.

The lawyers in all of our practice groups regularly consult with our tax specialists to determine the tax ramifications of each transaction.

Our Tax Planning Attorneys are active in local, state and national professional organizations. They are published contributors to professional journals and lecture regularly in local law schools and professional continuing education programs.
